About
Maybe a Way to Stop Time, Maybe a Way to Learn About Me
I’m Clément Signoles, a French visual artist working with photography.
I don’t photograph places.
I photograph states, fleeting moments where light, bodies, and landscapes come into balance, then slip away.
My work is grounded in presence. I work slowly, spending time with places and situations, letting images grow out of lived experience rather than intention or spectacle. What matters to me is not what happens, but what lingers: tension, silence, traces, and our fragile relationship with the world around us.
Photography, for me, is not a means of controlling reality, but a way of paying attention to it. I value imperfection, intuition, and time as essential parts of the process. Each image is less a statement than an open space, an invitation to pause, to feel, and to remain for a moment.
Based between Biarritz and Bali, my practice sits between contemporary photography, documentary sensibility, and a more poetic way of observing the world. I develop long-term work meant to be lived with, revisited, and experienced beyond the moment it was made.
